Obedience Training

MAST® Dog Obedience Class is an 13-week program for dogs 4 months and up that helps establish a strong relationship between the handler and dog while teaching commands such as Sit, Stay, Come, Down, and Leave it, promotes safety by teaching the handler control in different situations leading to a more manageable and well behaved pet through communication and socialization.

What this class focuses on

COMMUNICATION: Dogs learn to understand commands which helps to build a better relationship with their owners that is built on trust and respect.


SAFETY: Dogs that are well trained are less likely to run off or react impulsively in unsafe situations which enhances their safety around different people and pets.


STIMULATION: Dogs that are engaged are less likely to have destructive behaviors caused by boredom.

  

SOCIALIZATION: Dogs that are exposed to different dogs, environments and people which help them develop social skills.


STRESS: Dogs are less likely to show signs of anxiousness or frustration and tend to be calmer within the household environment when they are well trained.

What this class includes

Over these 13 weeks you and your dog will:

Evening 1: Handler/Dog Paperwork and Introductions

Evening 2-12: Obedience Training

  • Dogs will practice working with various handlers and master essential commands such as Heel, Sit, Down, and Stay.
  • Your dog will learn to operate both independently and as part of a group, interacting with different people, environments, and objects.

Evening 13: Final Obedience Exam

Required Supplies

  • 5–6 ft leash (leather preferred)
  • Training collar (available for purchase)
  • Up to date handler Flu vaccination
  • Up to date dog vaccinations and recent fecal exam
  • A “Pup Go-Bag” containing dog waste bags, paper towels, cleaner, and a hand-size bottle of sanitizer
